Have you ever seen La via dei Presepi? In Scicli historical centre most of the palaces and private houses open their doors to visitors to show their Nativity scene: each family creates their own vision of Nativity scene by using different materials: wood, ceramics, clay and papier-maché.
Tradition and innovation travel together in this trip towards the Sicilian history.
The first important appointment is on Saturday, 7 and 14 of December with the Canzoncine dell’Immacolata, traditional songs dedicated to the Virgin. In the evening villagers gather to sing these special songs all together.
The second Christmas appointment deals with music: the traditional Novena lets the festivity begin. It is a group of musicians playing the most suggestive Christmas Carols.
The last appointment is Christmas’ Eve dinner: each family arrange their tables with the ancient traditional dishes: ‘mpanate and pastizza.
